Mark Kelley Life Story

Mark Anthony Kelley departed this life on August 5, 2020 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born on August 4, 1955 in Muskegon Heights to Verlean (Greene) Kelley and Mitchell Hughey.  Mark graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1974. He accepted Christ at a very early age joining Queen Esther Baptist Church in Muskegon Heights.  After high school, he attended Muskegon Community College for 2 years and then he relocated to Louisville, Kentucky where he attended ITT Technical School for Welding.  He graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Welding.  He decided to move back to Muskegon Heights and landed a job at ADAC Automotive in Grand Haven, Michigan. He worked at ADAC for almost 15 years until his branch moved to Mexico.  He eventually landed a job at the Walmart Corporation from 2010-2018 until retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Albert Kelley and Ronald Kelley and one sister, Marion Kelley. 

In 1998, he married the love of his life, Vickie Elaine Williams. The couple shared 19 years of marriage until her death in 2017.  Mark enjoyed many hobbies such as watching CNN, drawing, basketball and he was a history wizard because of his fascination with facts.  During high school, he hung around his best friend David Kirks that lived in the East Park Housing Complex in the early seventies.  He had many friends and his relatives just adored his quiet personality.  

Mark leaves behind four brothers: DeVere Kelley (David Dutmer) (Casnovia, MI.), Charles (Linda) Kelley, Atlanta, Georgia, Mitchell Wayne Kelley (Holland, MI.) Lennard (Della) Kelley (White Cloud), one sister: Carolyn (Isaac) Bass (North Muskegon, MI) and one surviving aunt, Sherrie Wilson, Markham, IL and half siblings: Charles (Rebecca) Kelley (Grand Rapids), Mabel Jones (Grand Rapids) and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. He also leaves behind step children and step grandchildren from his marriage to Vicki.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
