Andreary Renee Claybrook, age 54, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Andreary was born on June 5, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to Lenda Claybrook and Herman Washington Sr.
Given a unique name by her cousin Jean, Andreary moved to Grand Rapids shortly after. Growing up, she spent a lot of her summers with her Aunt Ann and Uncle Spicer in Chicago and traveling down south with them as well. She attended Grand Rapids Public Schools and birthed all 3 of her children in the Grand Rapids area. She moved to Peoria, Illinois, in 1998 and lived there for 7yrs before relocating back to Grand Rapids. Andreary was a loving, warm-hearted Grandmother and Great Grandmother to 10 children.
Andreary transitioned after a short fight with cancer. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grand children. She worked for Medtronic in downtown Grand Rapids for the past 8 yrs until her health no longer allowed her to work. She had an ear for music and loved to DJ family events. Some of her favorite artists were Jodeci, New Edition, Floetry, and Larry June. Andreary had deep dimples, a big smile and loved to laugh. She was loved by everyone that she came across. Being not just the only girl, but also the oldest, Andreary had 3 younger brothers: Sentoria Tyler, James Claybrook, and Herman Washington Jr. (and Sharon). Andreary had 2 Special Aunts that treated her as their own: Ann Spicer who she spent most of her time With as a toddler, and Reta Claybrook, who had taken care of her from the time of her diagnosis, all the way up until she was called home. She also had a lifelong friend of whom she had known since kindergarten, Tisha Lucas, who helped care for her in the end as well.
Andreary is preceded in death by her son Davon Claybrook Sr., Grandmother Williean Claybrook, Uncle Richard (Jimboy) Roundtree,Uncle Willie (Pap) Claybrook, Uncle Maurice Washington, Uncle Jeff Washington, Uncle Bruce Washington, Uncle Jerome Washington and a special cousin, Yvonne Sturdivant.
Andreary is survived by her parents Lenda Claybrook and Herman Washington Sr. daughters: Danielle Chaney-Claybrook and Candice Chaney, Granddaughters Sha’Niya Nicole, Mariah Tana’e, Teyanna Danae, Taliyah Danielle, Milan Renee, and D’ Airryah Malia, Grandsons Davon Malik Jr., Tevin Donte Jr., and Omari Davon, and her only Great-Granddaughter, Sa’Miya Ma
