Beatrice Webb

Beatrice “Bea” Vance Webb passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026. She was born on February 6, 1944, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to Avis Vance and John Hester. She was one of six children, with three brothers and two sisters. 

Bea attended Michigan State University, where she earned a master’s degree in education. In 1967, she married Ollie Webb of Muskegon Heights, Michigan. Bea and Ollie were blessed with two sons, Marcus and Justin. 

Bea dedicated much of her professional life to education. For many years, she proudly served the students of Muskegon Heights High School as a teacher and high school counselor. She loved her students deeply and had a true passion for helping them succeed, grow, and thrive in life. She later continued her work in education at Reeths-Puffer High School, where she eventually retired. 

Bea was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She cherished the sisterhood, unity, and friendships she shared with her sorority sisters. Through her involvement, she helped promote service, encouragement, and support for young women and worked to uplift girls and women in their pursuit of education, confidence, and social advancement. 

Bea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ollie Webb; her parents, Avis Vance and John Hester; and her brothers who preceded her in death. 

She is survived by her sons, Marcus Webb and Justin Webb; her sister Eve Dickey, her grandson, Anderson Webb; her sisters, Juanita Coney and Melissa Dickey; her brother Melvin Dickey; and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, former students, sorority sisters, and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Toombs by Crystal Funeral Service, 2108 Peck Street, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444. The family will greet friends and family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
