Obituary
Charlene Edmondson Smith was born on April 18, 1929 to Robert and Mamie Lee (Moore) Edmondson, in Dardanelle, Arkansas. There, she attended Dunbar High school. In her early 20’s, she moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where she resided until her passing on December 21, 2022.
Charlene accepted Christ at an early age, later becoming a more than fifty-year member of Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served in various capacities. She was a Deaconess, served in the kitchen, participated in outreach ministries, including visiting the sick & shut-in. Additionally, she sent cards to the bereaved, etc. She truly loved the Lord and serving him in whatever way she could.
Over the years, Charlene was employed at Clark Nursing Home and Grand Rapids Public Schools. Her most beloved was her position as a cook at Smith Industries, from which she retired in 1994. For her, cooking was a passion! She was well known for her homemade tea cakes and chocolate pies! She enjoyed searching recipes & making her own creations.
Charlene loved her family and her church family. She was a kind-hearted person and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Charlene leaves to mourn sons Ray A. Moody & Bruce A. Smith, and daughters E. Mae Moncrief, Deborah Cummings (Allen Jackson), & Michelle Smith, sister Faye Veasley, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and son-in-law Anthony Martinez.
