Christine Troupe Life Story

Mrs. Christine Troupe born Christine Williams on January 16, 1939 to Maggie Stovall and Charlie Mack Williams in Crystal Springs, MS gained her wings on October 13, 2021 at the age of 82 with her head held high as she had done a job well done.

She was born the second of six children and started at a young age of 5 taking care of other children in Mississippi. Due to taking care of children and working in the tobacco and fruit fields she was unable to go to school and therefore, only completed the 3rd grade but through her lifetime of experiences she gained more than a 12th grade education.

Mrs. Christine married Carlee Claiborne and to this union two beautiful children were born. When they divorced she decided to follow her uncle to Muskegon Michigan in 1962 to make a better life for herself and her two daughters.  Once in Muskegon she aw the many opportunities it had to offer.  She sent for her sister Lucille Barnes and her family. She also sent for her brothers Johnnie Green Williams, Leroy Moore and his family.

Mrs. Christine married Douglas Troupe in 1967 and settled in their home at 327 Marshall Street on Jackson Hill where she resided for 53 years.  Mrs. Christine joined New Hope Baptist Church and worked as a nurses aide at University Park Care Center. She was a crossing guard for Angel School and employed at Bill Mar the Turkey Farm.  She was general housekeeper who worked in the blueberry fields every summer to supplement her income. Mrs. Christine loved to play the Michigan lottery and you better not bother her when she is meditating on them.

Mrs. Christine was the mother and grandmother of many and opened her doors to those that needed a helping hand. She didn't turn people away and would help you out in any way she could without expecting anything in return.

Mrs. Christine loved to go fishing with all the grandkids and tend to her garden of collard greens and green tomatoes. She kept her garden and yard looking good and was always fixing something around the house.

When we think of Mrs. Christine, we think of a woman of strength, poise and grace.  A woman who shows what it means to have unconditional love. A woman of elegance and the definition of what it means to be a real woman of God. Mrs. Christine was truly a phenomenal woman and to this we salute her as the Queen that she is.
