Craig Edward Hunnicutt was born October 11, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Arthur E. and Marlene Hunnicutt. He answered the call of his Lord and Savior on October 10, 2025 while in the presence of family and friends at Corewell Health Hospital Blodgett Campus.
Craig accepted Christ as personal Lord and Savior at a very young age and while his life was marred with health issues such as diabetes, kidney disease and was a ten-year kidney transplant survivor and a five-year double amputee he never stopped believing in His Lord.
Craig (a/k/a Dapp or in the music community Thunderfoot) was a product of Grand Rapids Public Schools, graduating from Ottawa Hills High School. His early childhood was filled with lots of love, joy and adventure. Craig was an incredible musician. Finding he favoured the drums more than any other instrument. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a musician where he often played with his father’s band in local nightclubs at an incredibly youthful age. He would have to stay off stage while not playing. His musical talent took him across the world performing with a variety of bands as well as playing independently. Craig’s love of music spanned many genres of music. He played for several churches and a wide variety of local events. Being a double amputee could not shake his love of music as he continued to enjoy being able to use his gifts. His final commitment to sharing what the Lord had blessed him with was being the drummer at Lamb Of God Church and Good News Church.
Craig was an enthusiastic motorcycle rider for many years, riding his bike across country. Another activity he enjoyed is the competitive sport of karate where he thrived. Yet, his greatest love of all was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grands. Spending time with family sharing meals especially his favourite foods like potato salad, banana pudding, and egg rolls.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Marlene Hunnicutt, one daughter Britney Thomas, one sister Traci Hunnicutt. He leaves to treasure his memories his children: Craig Edward Hunnicutt Jr, Brandon Redmond, Cierra Harris, Shaneka Chilton Morris, Kevin (Aaliyah) Chilton, Lonnie Chilton, and Alicia Williams; siblings: Donald Hunnicutt, Patrick Johnson, Edlonda Ulsh, Carole Ulsh, and Emma Spears; grandchildren: Treyvon Hunnicutt, Chyna Johnson, Kamari Hunnicutt, Kylon Hunnicutt, Kyeshaun Hunnicutt, Shahari Hunnicutt, Miquavien Peoples, Jai’amari Woods, Taurence Thomas, Tauj Thomas, Tierrany Thomas, Yariel Suarez, Heaven Likely, Sa’veah Jones, Eleecia Outlaw, Cienna Harris, Angelina Harris, Jayonna Carter, Dayonna Jefferson, King Chilton, Royalty Chilton, Dream Chilton, A’loni Chilton, Ziaire Ivy, and three great grandchildren: Treyvon Hunnicutt Jr, Kylon Hunnicutt Jr, and Ky’layah Hunnicutt, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends
