Danell Sue Kendrick

Danell Sue Kendrick (Haigh) of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away on March 14, 2024, at the age of 46. She was born on November 17, 1977, in Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School in Middleville, MI.  Danell's generous spirit and bright smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Danell dedicated her career to Human Resources & Payroll, showcasing her professionalism and dedication in the workplace. She was a member of the Grand Rapids Chamber, Emerging Leaders Series Class of 2018 and a Board member for the non-profit Help 4 Us. Outside of work, she found joy in her hobbies of Theatre and Traveling, enriching her life with creativity and exploration.

Everyone who knew Danell felt her big heart and giving nature. She spent countless hours Stage Managing at The Revolution, Ebony Road Players, and Civic Theatre and considered them her second home. She was a huge fan of football - especially the Detroit Lions. She was also a fan of get togethers, where she was grateful for connection with family and friends. No bonfire passed without multiple yard games- bounce house, giant connect four, light up toys - the list goes on and on. Danell enjoyed the beach, swimming, playing cards and board games. She loved spending time hiking and exploring new places to visit when traveling. 

Danell will be lovingly remembered by her mother Susan Haigh, sisters Sabrina, Shannon, Danielle, Shanell, Dana, brothers Dannie Jr., Demetrius, brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew, god-daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins, Delta Lambda Gamma Christian Sorority, Inc. Sorority sisters, and a community of friends and co-workers who became like family. She was preceded in death by her father Dannie Longmire, Aunt Evelyn, and Sister Deanna.

A service to celebrate Danell's life will be held on April 6, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, 30 Division Ave N, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. (Doors open at 3:00) Family and friends are welcome to gather for refreshments immediately following the celebration of life. Toombs by Crystal Funeral Services is assisting with the funeral arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, send plants or contributions in Danell's memory to Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Faith Hospice, or St. Jude. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to live on through those she encountered.
