Celebration of Life Dorothy Mae Hall “DOT” Good evening. Today we celebrate the life and spirit of Dorothy Mae Hall, who, after a life marked by love and laughter, passed away peacefully in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dorothy, fondly known as “DOT”, was born on July 14th, 1953, in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Dot was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her journey came to a gentle close, surrounded by the love of her family and many lives she touched. Dorothy was the loving matriarch of a family that admired her deeply. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 years, Steven Curtis Hall, who stood by her side, sharing a life filled with love and companionship. Dorothy's daughters, Ola Mae Anderson, and Vliet Hall, along with her stepson Mosi Birge, carry forward the lessons of strength and love imparted by their mother. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Henry Lee and Virgie Mae Anderson, whose values and love shaped her into the remarkable woman we honor today. She is reunited in death with her grandson Mosi Birge Jr., her late siblings Andrew Anderson, Lunette Deans and Mae Alice Anderson. Her passing marks the end of an era but also the beginning of a legacy. Dorothy was not only a cherished mother but also a beloved grandmother and great grandmother. Her thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren will forever remember her as a guiding light, whose presence brought warmth and wisdom into their lives. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will undoubtedly continue to inspire them. Dorothy was the beloved sister of Robin Anderson, Ola Mae Anderson, Karl Anderson, Gincie Anderson and Ben Anderson. Throughout her life, Dorothy was known for her skillful hands and creative spirit. As a cosmetologist, she not only styled hair with precision but also shaped the lives of her clients with her listening ear and sage advice. Her love for drawing/painting portraits revealed the beauty she saw in the world and in the faces of those around her. A talent that provided comfort and joy to those fortunate enough to be immortalized by her artistry. As we remember Dorothy “DOT” Mae Hall, we are reminded of the words of the great American poet Maya Angelou, who said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Dot made everyone around her feel loved, valued, and joyful. Her warm spirit and kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends. Dot’s impact was profound and will be deeply missed. To her family, Dorothy was a beacon of love and strength. To her friend, she was a source of joy, wisdom, and a pillar of generosity plus compassion. Her life was a beautiful portrait with the vibrant colors of kindness, resilience, and grace. As we bid farewell to Dorothy Mae Hall, we celebrate the life she led and the countless ways in which she enriched our world. Her legacy will continue through her family, her friends, and the countless lives she has influenced. Her laughter, her warmth, and her unyielding kindness will never be forgotten. She lives on in the memories we cherish and the love she shared. Rest in peace, Dot. You will forever be remembered as a treasure to those lucky enough to have known you. We honor the memory of Dorothy Mae Hall, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Though she has left this world, her spirit remains a guiding light to us all.
