Edna Meyers Life Story

Edna Earl Meyers was born with a twin sister, Sadie Pearl Meyers on October 8, 1947 in Centreville, MS to the late James and Martha Gilmore. She accepted Christ at an early age where the family attended Holly Grove Baptist Church in Mississippi. Edna attended Finch Elementary School in Centreville, MS and went on to graduate from Wilkinson County Training School in Woodville, MS. In later years, Edna and Sadie moved to Grand Rapids, MI where she met and married the love of her life, Walter K. Meyers.to that union, her two daughters, Cynthia and Angela were born. Edna enjoyed singing gospel songs with her family, watching TV, playing bingo and spending time with her grandsons. Her grandsons meant the world to her, not much could keep her away from Friday night band half time shows, football games on the weekends, a play, concerts, a track meet or any other event the boys were involved in and Edna was recently blessed to spend time with her great-grandsons. Edna Earl Meyers, aged 75, departed this life to be with our Lord February 12, 2023 in Rowlett, TX.

Edna is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Walter Meyers; her loving parents, James and Martha Gilmore; twin sister, Sadie Meyers; brother-in-law, Charles Meyers; sister, Shirley Gilmore; brother-in-law, Tom Roland; sister, Mary Helen Craney; brothers, James Gilmore and Sherman Gilmore; brothers-in-law, Alonzo and Errol Meyers; nieces, Cherry Copperwood, Amy Meyers and Roberta Meyers.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Cynthia Meyers and Angela Smith; eight grandsons, Darion, Isaac, Isaiah, Courtney, Blake, Dominique, Neal V and Xavier; three great-grandsons, Noah, Austin and Neal VI; four brothers, George Gilmore (Edna) of Milwaukee, WI, Roy (Maxine) Gilmore of MIlwaukee, WI and Lynn and Lloyd Gilmore both of Centreville, MS; four sisters, Fayetta (Jerry) Boss of Grand Rapids, MI, Minnie (Cornelius) Erby of Milwaukee, WI, Francine (Don) Kaltenbaugh and a special sister, Dorothy Gilmore of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters-in-law, Doris Meyers of Grand Rapids, MI, Gloria Gilmore of Baton Rouge, LA, Pauline Gilmore of Milwaukee, WI and Deborah Meyers-Greene of Ypsilanti, MI; honorary daughter, Sydney Schmus of Grand Rapids, MI; one aunt, Mary Gilmore of WI; a host of loving family members, friends, cousins, nieces and nephews including special niece, Sharon Roland of Grand Rapids, MI and a special nephew, Eric Meyers of Grand Rapids, MI.
