Ms. Edna Joyce Thomas was born on September 9, 1943, and passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Edna accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend Joseph Hill at Westside Grace Mission Church. From there, she attended Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church and then served faithfully for the last 23 years at Angel Community Church.
Edna was employed at Brunswick Corporation and retired from Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Michigan. She also worked for the city of Muskegon Heights. She was educated through Muskegon Heights Public Schools and received her associate's degree from Muskegon Community College. Edna enjoyed cooking, crime shows, shopping, and especially volunteering at the church and in the community.
Edna had a special love for her son, Derrek, and a special niece, Ms. Dana Warfield. Edna leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Mr. Derrek Thomas, grandchildren, Ms. Morgan Thomas and Mr. Derrek Cleveland, three great grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Jacquie (Willie) Frierson, Mrs. Evelyn (Pastor Jeffery) Hough, Ms. Caroyln Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Earl Thomas; her mother, Mrs. Claudia (Ernest) Hall; and her grandparents, Mr. Nathan and Mrs. Eula Johnson, as well as her aunts, Hazel Wafer, Floydia Bell Lucas, Eleise Turner, Barbara Simmons, and one brother, Mr. Michael Johnson, and a cousin, Hassan Shaheed.
