Glorestine Weekley

Glorestine (Gloria) Weekley also known as (Hess) departed this life on November 29, 2023.

Gloria was born on December 6, 1941, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Henry Holt Sr. and Cora Lee (Cooper) Holt.  Gloria joined St. Luke AME Zion Church as a teenager where she remained a member until her passing.  She graduated from South High School and Grand Rapids Junior College (Community College).  Gloria married Maruice L. Weekley Jr. and from this union they had three children, Andrea Denise Weekley of Grand Rapids, Robin Renee Weekley of Grand Rapids, and Scott Maurice Weekley (Rosalind) of Avondale, Arizona.  She leaves to mourn, her sister Dorothy Holt of Grand Rapids, brothers Michael Holt of Grand Rapids, Ossie (Shirley) Holt of Grand Rapids, and Willie (Alfredo) Holt of Grand Rapids.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cora Holt, and (brother) Henry Holt Jr.  She is survived by her children Andrea, Robin, and Scott, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces. nephews, close friends Myrna Granderson, Jerline (Bryant) Moore, Alverine Paker, Inez Smith, Peggy Smith, June Vander, the late Beverly Drake, and a host of others.  Special thanks to all the neighbors on Morris Avenue especially Gordy and Joyce VanHaitsma for always keeping a close eye on her.

Gloria worked for Grand Rapids Public Schools for over 40 years where she enjoyed working with students and building relationships.  Gloria loved to read, travel, shop and would not pass a Goodwill or Salvation Army if the lights were on.
