Gloria Anice (Johnson) Windom, age 78 of Michigan, passed away on June 3, 2023.
Gloria (usually called Anice) was born June 21, 1944 to Eula Mae and Travis Johnson in Kossuth, Mississippi. She was the eldest of five children. her parents preceded her in death. Anice gave her faith to Mt. Pleasant church in Kossuth, MS at age 12. She attended and graduated from Easom High School in Corinth, MS where she was the captain of the high school marching band.
Anice married Lugene Windom. They were married 21 years. While being a stay at home mother and wife, she attended Olive Harvey College studying accounting. Throughout these years to present her favorite years were 1962, 1964 and 1968. Those were the years she gave birth to her three wonderful children (her words) Daphne, Aritha Deneen and Shawn. Later she joined Chase Bank, formerly American National Bank, where she retired after 28 years.
Anice joined Pullman Christian Reformed Church during the early 70's. As a member of PCRC she was involved in many ministries including Pullman Preschool teacher, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School and weekly family night. Additionally, she was an elected Church Board Member and served two terms. Anice continued her ministries being a member of Pullman Celebration Choir, Coffee Break, Sewing Group and Book Club "Reading Between the Wines".
She loved traveling, music, singing, water aerobics and dance (when she was able. LOL), reading and loving her grandchildren.
Anice is survived by her four siblings, Bernice Miller, Barbara Cooper (Jewel), Beverly Otey, and James Johnson (Sandra), three children Daphne (Jack), Aritha Deneen (Antonio), and Shawn (Cathy), six grandchildren, Antonio Carmichael, Deneen Chevynique, Daphne Chinique, Anyce Chanel, Dimitri Christian, and Malachi Xiong, two great-grandchildren Milyn and Phalyn and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. She wanted it noted that Chrstiana and John Riley also held a special place in her heart. She has always loved children and wants to be remembered as "the old lady who loved children".
