June J.J. Irions-Davidson, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Grand
Rapids, Michigan. Born and raised in West Point, Mississippi, J.J. carried her Southern roots
with pride and warmth throughout her life, touching everyone she met with her vibrant spirit
and loving heart.
Affectionately known as the “Orange Diva”, J.J. was a woman of faith who deeply loved and
believed in God. She was an active and devoted member of Messiah Baptist Church of Grand
Rapids, where her commitment to service, fellowship and worship reflected the strength of her
spiritual life. J.J. found joy in bringing people together, especially through her love of hosting
and cooking for family and friends. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and
the comforting aroma of meals made with love.
J.J. spent many years working in retail, where her joyful spirit, kindness and genuine care for
people left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Through her work and daily
interactions, she brought smiles to countless faces and continued to build meaningful
connections, often welcoming many as extended family in the Grand Rapids area.
J.J. was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother who took immense pride in her
family and the generations she helped shape.
J.J. leaves behind her cherished children: Dontata Smith—mother of (MarQuis and Sha-Sha);
Tameka Walker—mother of (Keyonte, Cream, and Kymere); and Kisha Brown “Phoo-Baby”—
mother of (Jahkyia, Lloyd, Austin, Ava and Don’Nasia). She also leaves behind her treasured
great-grandchildren: Kaleeuh (daughter of Keyonte), and Alex and Lee Lee (daughters of
Sha-Sha). In addition to her immediate family, J.J. was blessed with a large extended family,
including her beloved sisters in Christ—Mother Meeks, Bobbie Jordan, Pamela Webbs, and
Barb Bivens, whose fellowship and friendship meant so much to her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents—Almeter and U.S. Davidson; her beloved
daughter—Larhonda Babers, as well as her siblings—Lonnie B., Linda and Sonnie.
J.J.’s legacy of love, faith, hospitality, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the
hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
