James Haley Life Story

James "JC" Haley was born on July 22, 1931 to the late Mrs. Illayer "Blackburn" Rudd and the late Mr. Hezekiah Haley in Blytheville, AR. He departed this life at 4:30pm at the home of his daughter Mrs. Tamara McKnight (Elder Robert McKnight). James confessed a hope in Christ at the age of 12 at First Baptist Church in Blytheville, AR. In later years he was a member of Christian Service Church in Chicago and Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman of the Trustee Boards. In his later years he joined Marble Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL under the pastorate of Rev. Ph.D. Ezell Smith, where he served on the Trustee Board and was a Father to all. James attended DuSable High School in Chicago, IL where he completed the 11th grade. He enrolled in the Army in 1951 and was station at Fort. Leonard Wood located in the Missouri Ozarks. He obtained his GED and earned the rank of Sergeant while serving in the Korean War. James received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. James retired from General Motors as a Foreman at the Willow Springs Plant in Illinois from 1959-1989. Has a member of UAW Local 558 while employed and retired. James' Legacy will be carried on by his son James Haley of Chicago, Ill., his daughter Mrs. Tamara (Elder Robert) McKnight of Wyoming, MI, grand children Ms. Sheneen Haley of Elkhart, IN, Mrs. Tiffany Dickerson (Terrance Woodard) of Chicago, Ill., Robert "RJ" McKnight and Malachi McKnight of Wyoming, MI. Great Grand Children Mrs. Tiana Woodard (Mrs. LaShante Woodard) daughter Zariah of Louisville, KY, Terren Woodard, Trevon Woodard and Talayah Woodard of Chicago, Ill., his Brother James Haley of Texas, Sister Lelia Haley Johnson of Tennessee, Cousin Roy Fultz of Crete, Ill., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his Mother Illayer Rudd, father Hezekiah Haley, daughter Diane Haley, Great Grand Daughter Terra Woodard, Vera Haley (the mother of Diane and James) and Equilla Haley (the mother of Tamara McKnight). Anyone who met James was welcomed with warmth, kindness and compassion. James was a true warrior for the Lord and loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always meant what he said and we knew to do as he said. We were "His Girls" and "My Boys" and will cherish all the great moments we shared in his Life, his laughter and "Doody Doody Doo" song and His acts of Love that came straight from the Heart.
