Janiyah Maree Jennings

Janiyah Maree Jennings, age 12 passed on October 1st 2023 at the Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX. Janiyah was born May 12th, 2011 , to the parents Candice Laprie and Jamayel Jennings. A lively and loving child, Janiyah was known by her friends and family to be a fighter with an “Thumbs Up" attitude. She had an ambitious personality and was ready to face any challenges that came her way. 

As a member of her school's advance choir, Janiyah got the opportunity to sing the national anthem at a Phoenix Suns game. She also was a first class drummer in her band class and a remarkable sketch artist, who always carried around her sketch pad when she felt inspired to draw. Janiyah came off as a jack off all trades. She loved to dance and make silly faces to make others feel comfortable around her. She loved her family and made genuine friendships throughout her neighborhood and school days. 

Janiyah also loved flying kites with her father and step mom Janelle as well as taking road trips to the Grand Canyon with her mother and sister.

Janiyah was born with an incurable disease Pulmonary Hypertension and Cardio Pulmonary Atresia which made certain task difficult for her, like riding a bike or running. The condition worsened over time leaving Janiyah short of breath and struggling to do the daily tasks that she loved.

Although these things decreased her activity level, she still pushed through and beat all odds! When Janiyah needed reassurance and guidance she looked up to her big sister who she admired so much.

She is survived by her parents Candice, Jamayel and Janelle(stepmom), Sister: Nevaeh, Grandparents: Antoinette(Mima), Vikie and James Sr. As well as her many aunts and uncles, Ceara, Chris, Cyesha, Anthony, Chardae, Leander, James Jr., Vincent Sr. and Leah. Also a host of cousins and other relatives she leaves to cherish.
