Rev. Jerry Kenneth Mason
December 27, 1953 - December 13, 2023
Rev. Jerry Kenneth Mason transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, surrounded by his family.
Jerry, also known to some as “Kenny” was born the second child and only son to Rev. Henry Mason and Christene (Earley) Mason on December 27, 1953 in Muskegon, MI at Hackley Hospital. He attended Muskegon Heights Public Schools and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1972.
Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He and his family attended Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He sang in the choir and male chorus. He was the baritone/bass of the group. He also served as assistant minister there until his health began to decline.
Growing up, Jerry loved to play his guitar, sing, cook, eat, watch sports, and preach. He worked at Sambo’s Restaurant and Fast Eddie’s Car Wash. He has a desire to open his own restaurant.
Around 1976, he moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. He got married in 1978. From that union, his daughter Dyondra Monique Mason was born on July 8, 1980.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory, his nieces Stacy Diane Mason and Charlene Samantha Mason, both of Muskegon; daughter Dyondra Monique Mason (Bumpus) of Muncie, Indiana; aunt Ruthel Sanders of Muskegon; aunt Audra Faye Culp of McDonough, GA; stepmother Berniece Mason; stepsisters Sonia, Debra, Penny, Angela Oliver of Muskegon; stepbrother Jerry Oliver of Muskegon and a host of family and friends. His parents, Rev. Henry Mason and Christene Mason, and sister Diane Mason precedes him in death.
Special thanks to the staff of Trinity Health of Muskegon, Davida Dialysis, Melissa and the Senior Resources team, Heart in Hands Home Health Care, Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, and Ascension St. John Hospital for your care and dedication to Jerry.
