Jesse Herron Life Story

Jesse Lee Herron was born on December 23, 1935, to Beatrice Marie and Nathaniel Herron, Sr. in Okolona, Mississippi. He was the second child of five birthed into this union. As toddlers, he and his eldest brother, Nathaniel, Jr. (Sonny) contracted a severe case of pneumonia. Jesse was then taken to live with his Aunt Jodie and Uncle Henry in Carbon Hill, Alabama. He remained there and attended school. He spent his summers with his brothers and sisters in Corinth, Mississippi. Given that his family is one of strong faith and their belief in Christ, Jesse received the Lord in his youth and gained a deeper relationship with Him in his latter years.

Jesse and his Aunt Jodi moved to Amory, Mississippi after his Uncle Henry passed away. He then attended and graduated from Monroe County Training School, where he played baseball and football. He was very talented in both and was recently inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Fame for Football in <please insert year>. Jesse was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all sports. He excitedly trained and coached his youngest son’s little league baseball team.

Jesse met and married Joann Fears and six children were blessed to this union, three daughters: Debra Ann Herron (deceased), Jacqueline McKinney, and Monica Herron-Carter, and three sons: Donald Edwin (deceased) Ronald Erwin “the twins”, and Michael Jay Herron.  He was also later blessed with the birth of his daughter, Rebecca Gilland, and son, Jaime Sezeny.

Jesse received an eternally triumphant call to his Lord and Savior while in the loving care of his youngest sister, Mary on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He has now joined his parents, beloved uncle and aunt, two children, and siblings: brother, Nathaniel Herron, Jr. and sister, Mattie L. Tucker in Glory.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memory, six children; 14 grandchildren, Derrick Herron, Lisa Stevenson, Tawanda Brown, Denyetta Latham, Bryson Herron, Latoya Herron, Alecia Meader, Zacchaeus Herron, Michael Herron, Jr., Michelle Herron, and Frankie Herron, of Amory, Mississippi and Jada Russell, Jasmine Gilland, and Isiah McCray of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Henry G. (Christine) Herron; sister, Mary L. Townsend of Grand Rapids, Michigan; favorite niece, Reverend Dr. Lisa C. Townsend, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and nephew, Anthony (Tony “TnT”) Tucker, of Clearwater, Florida, along with a host of other special nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and childhood friends.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
