John Leon White

John Leon White, aka “Big John” was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also an inspiring businessman.  He was born on September 10, 1936 in McComb (Pike County), Mississippi and was called home on April 12, 2024.  His death was sudden and unexpected but we know that God’s time is perfect.

John had many accomplishments included being one of the first African American owned Amoco Dealerships in Grand Rapids as well as being honored as a GIANT Award recipient.  But, what he is most proud of is his family and the positive impact he strived to make on others.

Funeral Services for John Leon White will be on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Messiah Baptist Church, 513 Henry Ave SE.  Visitation will be from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with the funeral service starting promptly at Noon.
