Mary Haynes Life Story

Mother Mary Ann Haynes was the daughter of the later Warren and Earnestine Moore, born in
Springfield Louisiana, on July 20, 1942. She was one of six children. She was saved at the
young age of 21 at Westside Church of God in Christ. She married Johnell Haynes on October
3, 1959, and had 3 children in Louisiana. In 1966, she moved to Grand Rapids, MI with her
husband and had 4 more children. Mary and her family became members of Church of God in
Christ under the leadership of Pastor Elder John Matthews. In October 1997, Mary and her
husband moved to Lawrenceville, GA where they became members of Refreshing Church of
God in Christ where she remained a member until she moved back home to Louisiana in
October 2016. Mary and her husband became members of Straightway Church under the
leadership of Pastor Elder Roosevelt Watson. Mary loved gardening and planting flowers
around her home and would always give advice to her neighbors. Mary was an example in her
home, church and community of her love for Christ and a God fearing woman. Mary worked at
American Seating and later Steelcase where she retired.

Mary was a foster parent for over 20 years, receiving awards for her outstanding service to
children in need at D.A Blodget. Mary continued to have a great bond with the children she
fostered, they even called her mom. Mary was kind and strong, yet gentle. She was persistent in
her prayer life and faith. Mary found her strength in reading the Bible and listening to gospel
music on a daily basis. Mary was selfless, putting others needs before her own and lead by the
example of God, never changing, never wavering.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Johnell Haynes; children Joyce Haynes-
Johnson, Johnell (Lisa) Haynes Jr, Pamela (Kenneth) Haynes-DeBose; Earl (Delmira) Haynes,
Kathy (Daryl) Smith, Michelle Haynes, Lishanda Haynes, John Haynes, Cedric Haynes, her
