Mary Margaret Thomas was born on July 27, 1937, in Waterford, Mississippi, to the late George Dewey Thomas and Josephine Nettie Jefferies Thomas. She was the ninth child born into the family and the paternal grandchild of the late Francis Thomas and Roland Adams
Mary graduated from Rosenbaum High School. She later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to be closer to her older sister and brothers. Mary enjoyed spending time with her siblings, children, and especially her grandchildren.
Mary worked at Keeler Brass for 13 years, she also worked at Brann's Restaurant, and the Comet Restaurant. She loved cooking and baking and was especially known for her famous six-layer pineapple and coconut cake. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed playing the lottery and visiting the casino.
Mary was a faithful servant who loved serving and praising her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Leonard Gant, where she sang in the choir. One of Mary's favorite sayings was, "Don't worry about where I'm going. You better worry about where you're going." In her later years, as her health began to decline, Mary attended Macedonia Baptist Church, where she enjoyed Pastor Hoskins' preaching and worship services.
On March 6, 2026, Mary Margaret Thomas went home to be with the Lord.

Mary's legacy continues through her fifteen grandchildren, including her adopted grandson, Eric Hendrix; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She so leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will cherish her memory
