Maudine Mattox was born on April 6, 1930 to Mattie and Clarence Norton in Louisville Mississippi. She was the 6th of 8 children. She briefly moved to Memphis, TN to be with her sister Vivian, and welcomed daughters Wycasie & Vanessa into the world, before settling in Grand Rapids, MI in 1959.
Throughout her life, Maudine lived a life of service and charity; through her extensive volunteer work, and also pouring into all the children that were a part of her life. She gave decades of service to organizations including, the Eastern Stars, American Legion, West Michigan Red Cross, and Club Cruisers to name a few.
Maudine was the epitome of love, strength, toughness, perseverance, resilience, kindness, service, a sweet spirit, and hard work; and these are things she instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers and 2 sisters; and by her daughter Wycasie.
On March 28, 2024, she went home to her Lord and Savior, but leaves to forever cherish her memory and her legacy, devoted daughter Vanessa Mattox; loving granddaughters Arhea-Janae’ Norton (Jaron Raines) and Courtney Norton, great granddaughters Jamiyah and Janaya Norton-Johnson; her sister Barbara Norton; brother Homer Norton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and special family friends.
