Melvin Fox

Melvin Lewis Fox was born on October 5th, 1954 in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Sylvester and Rosie Ann Fox.  Melvin passed away on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022, at the age of 68. Melvin was preceded in death by his brothers Gilbert Fox, Sylvester Fox and Howard Sydney Russell; and his nephews Brian Fox and Charlie Owens.

Melvin grew up in Painesville, the 6th of 8 children, and graduated from Harvey High School in 1972. After high school, Melvin attended Aquinas College on a football scholarship. He graduated from Aquinas in 1976 with a degree in Business Administration.  Melvin then worked in the engineering department at Steelcase, and after a successful career, he decided to venture out on his own, acquiring and turning around his first company – Phoenix Steel.  

After starting his second company - West Michigan Flocking and Assembly – and running it for over 20 years, Melvin retired in 2019 to spend time with his two dogs Gucci and Blue, his fishing boats, experimenting with new dishes in the kitchen, and his family.

His memory will be deeply cherished by his devoted wife, Cherie Lynn Fox, sons Garrett Fox (Regis) of Florida and Bradley Robinson of New York along with his grandchildren, Harper and Henderson Fox of Florida, and his special daughter/niece Tiana Gant, and special grandnephews Kaden and Mason of Michigan. Five siblings:  Mary Brown (Elijah) of South Carolina; Alma Owens (Late Rev. Milton) of Pennsylvania; Gwendolyn El Amin (Taalib) of North Carolina; Beverly Smith (Rev. James) of Pennsylvania; and Kenneth Fox (Stella) of Ohio and parents in law; Howard and Charlene Russell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, whom he loved dearly.
