Richard C. Pulliam
(Rick)
Sunrise: August 5, 1968
Sunset: November 15, 2025
Rick was a fun-loving, free-spirited person who loved life; a loving father that loved to laugh, loved to make people laugh and, above all, he loved God.
Rick attended schools in the Forest Hills School District at Pine Ridge Elementary School and Forest Hills Central Middle School. He graduated from Gand Rapids Public Schools’ and graduated from Creston High School in the class of 1986.
Rick was a stand-up comedian that traveled across the state of Michigan into other states and other locations. He was a strong writer and worked as the managing editor at The Grand Rapids Times. Growing up, he attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served in The Cherub Choir and as a junior deacon. Later, as an adult, he attended Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon’s Board and male choir.
His health struggles began about 2 years ago, which included an unexpected open-heart surgery. Rick, being Rick, didn’t let that stop him. His interests became Jet Skiing, Kayaking, riding his electric bike and scooter, and soaking up the sun on the beach.
He left to cherish his memories, his Mother, Dr. Patricia Pulliam; brother, Ernest C. (Shelia) Pulliam; Sisters: Barbara Hart and Maryann Moore; his Daughter, Asia Shipp; former wife Mona Lee Pulliam, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place, entrusted to Toombs by Crystal. The family wishes to thank Pastor Eula C. Gaddis Jr. (Prince of Peace}; Rev. Dr. Howard C. Earle, Jr. (Senior Pastor NHMBC), and Ophelia Graves and Katrina Springer-Terry, who prepared the repast.
