Richard DeWayne Vander, born on May 25th, 1954, in Danville, Illinois, passed away on January 12th, 2024, joining his son Edward (Eddie) Louise Vander IV, as well as his parents Edward Vander and Joan Bell.
Richard attended Ottawa Hills High School and later graduated from Davenport University. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating his commitment to duty and service.
In his journey through life, Richard found joy in marrying June Young, gaining a daughter, and welcoming the arrival of his firstborn child. He led a full and blessed life, raising seven children and witnessing the beauty of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his daughters Sonja Vander, Taisha Perkins, Kourtney Perkins, Nikeyia Perkins, Kimberly Young, and his son Jason Lee. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Amani Perkins, Rajamon Watkins, Zamarya Perkins, Roniel Watkins, Z’marion Perkins, Enaya Watkins, Amaree Perkins, Serenity Lofton, Xiah Perkins. He is also remembered by his great-grandchildren: E’Veah Echevarria, Roniel Watkins Jr and Zuri Perkins.
He is survived by his brothers Edward Vander, Charles Vander, Marlon Vander, and Marcus (Stella) Vander. Richard leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who cherish the memories of a life well-lived.
