Spencer Turner Life Story

Spencer Lee Turner was born on September 30, 1937 to parents Joe and Emma Baird in Chicago, Illinois. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Spencer grew up to be such a sweet and free spirit. In his time while living in Chicago he pursued all that life had to offer. He went to school and became a Certified Machine Maintenance Mechanic; he loved fixing and building anything he could get his hands on. Part time, he would also DJ at several clubs and events and enjoyed the night life as well. He loved music, Blues, Country, and Jazz were his favorites.

He met his first wife, Edda (Johnson) Turner, (who proceeds him in death), and together they had two children, Freda and Patricia (Patsy) Turner. While still in Chicago, he later met his second wife, Elsie M. (Bowie) Turner, and together they had a child, Jacqueline J Bowie-Turner. They then moved to Grand Rapids Michigan in 1976.

After their separation, Spencer went on to have other children, Spencer Carlyle, Quintin Robinson, Kristopher and Emma Kramer, as he also helped raise his second wife's children as his very own, Frankie Stewart, Willie Bowie, Christina Bowie, and Sonya Bowie. He was a very hardworking man. He was employed by Keebler Co., working as a Machine Maintenance Mechanic on 3rd shift for 30 yrs until his retirement in the early 2000's. He was also a lover, and diehard rider of Motorcycles. That passion for bikes and riding joined him w/ his beloved Motorcycle Club Brothers of Wild Bunch MC, Grand Rapids MI Chapter... where he has been a member for over 25 plus years.... Known as The Professor.

He loved his Harley, and they spent decades traveling the country together, riding side by together, on their Motorcycles. Having fun and living life. It was a Brotherhood he cherished always. Wild Bunch Forever, he would proudly say.

Spencer was blessed to live several lifetimes, and he enjoyed them all. in his later years, he had some struggles and complications, and he fought a rough fight like a champ. His loved ones were there with him fighting till the end. He was known by many, and was loved by all. As he rides his Harley off into the heavens... He will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Emma Baird, his daughter Patricia “Patsy” Turner, his sister Bobbie Colquitt, and his ex-wife Edda Turner.

He leaves to cherish his sons, Willie Bowie, Spencer Carlyle, Quintin Robinson, and Kristopher Kramer, his daughters, Freda Turner, Jacqueline Bowie, Emma Kramer, Frankie Stewart, Christina Bowie, and Sonya Bowie, 23 grandchildren and a host of whole lot of great grand kids (that look just like him), and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
