Ms. Sylvia A. Maupins - December 18, 1943 - January 18, 2024
Ms Slyvia Annette Maupins, daughter of the late Lester T. and Darious (Reed) Burton, was born December 18, 1943, in Franklinton, Louisiana. She moved with her parents in 1951, to Battle Creek. She attended the Battle Creek Public Schools, and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.
She began her employment at Fort Custer Hospital, until they closed. She was later employed at the State Hospital in Coldwater, Michigan. When the Coldwater Hospital closed she began working for Hugh Pettiford at Hugh’s Grill, for several years. She enjoyed fishing and reading. She also was an avid bowler and bowled on several leagues. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family members.
Sylvia was married to Fred Davis and Phillip Maupins, both marriages ended in divorce. She was a member of the Pennfield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Ms Maupins departed this life Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Burton in 1967, brothers, Slugger Burton and Lester Burton, sisters, Delores Burton Barby, Campfae Williams, Bobbie Delores Burton and Mary Ellen Burton. She leaves with cherished memories, sons, Conrad (Lisa) Burton and Trent L. Davis bothof Battle Creek, brothers, Terry Burton and Gary Burton, sister, Farby Burton all of Battle Creek, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a special niece, Sharnyce and a host of other relatives and friends.
