Our dearly beloved Umeka N. Footman on March 22, 2024 went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Umeka N. Footman was born March 12, 1973 to Ira L. Footman and Phyliss Hendricks in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Affectionately known as My Little Girl, Me-Me, Meka, Nani and Sissy.
Umeka recently moved back to Grand Rapids, Michigan after living in Atlanta, Georgia for more than 30 years. Umeka loved to read, dance, go to the beach, taking selfies, laughing and enjoying time with family.
Umeka was the mother of two beautiful daughters, Jacoiya Monique Footman-McGraw, Janaiya Mone’ Footman. Grandson (heartbeat) Noah Gabe who called her Nani.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ruby M. Clark, George Clark, Ira Lee and Ethel Footman Sr, step-parents Janice Footman and Tommy Hendricks.
Umeka leaves to cherish her memory and legacy, mother Phyliss Hendricks, father Ira Lee Footman II, sister Kenya (Lamont) Tyler, daughters Jacoiya (Derrick) McGraw, Janaiya (Ian Moore) Footman. One grandson Noah Gabe, special friend Jason Atwell and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephew, cousins, extended family and friends.
This is not goodbye it’s until we meet again.
